National Guard Association of Kansas
Message from the President
I’d like to invite you to be a part of our organization. We assist Guardsmen by delivering quality professional development, educating our legislators on the needs of the Guard, and by operating the State Sponsored Life Insurance program. If you would like to shape the future, you can provide suggestions or volunteer here: https://ngaks.net/get-involved-in-ngaks/
We had a great conference in March, and Industry Day was well attended in May. Thank you to all of the volunteers and sponsors who made these events a success.
My philosophy and goals for NGAKS this year are available for your review here. I look forward to speaking with you about how we can help you this year!
Jordan Clark
The National Guard Association is actively responding to the ongoing government shutdown by advocating for guard members who are facing severe impacts. NGAUS has pressed lawmakers to either pass a continuing resolution or enact legislation to end the shutdown. NGAUS has mobilized its members by helping send more than 9,000 emails to congressional representatives using the “Write to Congress” tool on the NGAUS website.
If you are a Guard member, technician, or family member, consider using the “Write to Congress” feature or reach out to your representative and senator to voice your concerns.
NGAUS Capitol Summit: Attendee Perspective, CW2 Cody Ward
CW2 Cody Ward, a local company grade officer, went to Washington, D.C. for the National Guard Association Capitol Summit. The summit brings dedicated leaders across the National Guard to engage directly with Policy Makers.
From CW2 Ward: Attending the Capitol Summit through the support of the Kansas National Guard Association was more than an opportunity, it was a powerful reminder of the impact that professional associations can have on individual service members, their family, and the entire guard community. The summit gave me a front-row seat to the legislative process. I met with congressional leaders, shared personal stories, and helped put a face on the policies that affect our training, healthcare and retirement benefits, and readiness. During my time there, I saw firsthand the direct impact NGAUS/NGAKS has on shaping legislation that supports National Guard service members, families, and veterans. I realized how critical it is for service members to stay informed and engaged in the policy-making process. By supporting these associations, we are investing in the future of our military and ensuring those who server are equipped with the resources and benefits they deserve.
